Escaping Away to their Big Day

Brian and Jeanne just wanted to get away.  Both have hectic schedules and a love for each other, so they planned a quick escape filled with food and fun for just their nearest and dearest!

An intimate wedding on the beach seems simple enough, but their is much to consider, and I had to check off every last detail to ensure a relaxed day for all involved.  If you want, you MUST do the following: check the rules on every beach you are considering, only use rental properties that are prepared to host events, be prepared to be okay with inclement weather, and get any and all necessary permits.  Don’t try to fudge things and risk crowded guests, a party ended early by the authorities or expectations of great weather with a day ruined by rain.

While we had all the prep needed for these two cuties, the perfect sunny day arrived for a ceremony in the sand and a rooftop reception!

A guest book of handmade papers and vintage Folly postcards greeted everyone with the waves waiting just beyond.  Arbors do NOT have to be these white plastic things from Lowes, either, and to keep with the beautiful natural tones of the wood chairs and sand, we built this simple one for the soon-to-be-newlyweds from clustered bamboo poles.

Being so in love, the photos of the two of them are just gorgeous!

For guests from all over, everyone was given a taste of southern fare, and no day at the beach is complete without ice cream- cake, that is, and a late night snack of picnic far with pb and j’s and chocolate milk!

To top off the fun, a photobooth from the fantastic Tomme Hilton Gallery and dancing under the setting sun was ordered for all!

Place cards hung on an old ladder splattered with bright fun paint colors, and the beautiful sunshine provided the perfect lighting for the blessed event!

Thanks so much to Bent Studio for the great memories!

The NEW Beach Wedding

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

There is nothing more amazing than the sound of the waves as a back drop to your ceremony.  Not so in love with the sand and shell decor that tends to be par for the course?  Nix it!

For Cheri and Bob, the ocean and colors of the setting sun were some of her faves colors so we deepened them and pumped things up with some rich fabrics to offset the chill in the air on the December 5 big day!

Gorgeous starfish and the Citadel Beach House still made an appearance to give their guests the souvenirs and memories they needed for their trip, of course.  Driftwoods were traded for darker woods like manzanita.

Finally, with a beautiful backdrop, sometimes it’s cool to leave it just as that, so a simple bamboo arbor and moss  and ivy  didn’t block the ocean view.  Naturally, Yoj ordered up the perfect weather!  Hello!  We take care of it all.

Be on the lookout for more details in later blogs including some awesome details from Cru Catering, Ashley BakerySuper Deluxe, Country & Lace, specialty furniture rentals from Duvall and a serious party crowd ;)

Who says the beach is all pastels and sand? Bring on the COLOR!

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

If you love bright, bold color, USE IT!  Use it we did with Jamie’s fave hot pink and turquoise.  The couple wanted to fully enjoy their Charleston wedding beach-style, haveing made the trip from Indianapolis for the big day!

To pull it all together, have your accent color a more pale print.  Accessories in funky clear glass and simple loose arrangements are a must or no arrangements at all to stay away form being too busy.  Jamie and Matt were a fun couple, anyway, but how could you not have a good time with all of the happy color!img_0788.jpg
