Yoj Events

Candice Hilse founded Yoj in 2008 after serving as a human resources and event planning leader at one of the largest retail companies in the U.S. Charged with planning store openings nationwide, she refined her corporate event planning abilities and mastered the art of infusing every event with its own character.

Candice eventually discovered that event planning and production was her passion—not sitting behind a desk—and decided to focus on it full-time through Yoj. Candice most enjoys, well, everything about her job. But if she has to get specific, it's drawing inspiration and a fresh perspective from each client and challenging her team to create entirely original events. Spending time with each client and designing events around their personality and style are what make her work at Yoj so rewarding and fun.

Kelly came to the Lowcountry from Nashville, Tennessee to study communication and hospitality at the College of Charleston. She started interning at Yoj to learn about the wedding industry and small business operation from a marketing and event planning perspective. Since she's been here, Kelly has also developed her writing skills through maintaining Yoj's blog and social media presence and her event planning logistics capabilities. She appreciates the Yoj team's dedication to providing clients with personal and thoughtful service as they create fabulous events.

Elizabeth joins the team at Yoj from Connecticut with a recent stint in Boston, where she attended the New England Institute of Art and received a bachelor's degree in fashion and retail management. Through her studies, Elizabeth became involved in the fast-paced world of fashion shows and runway events.

While the event-planning world now holds Elizabeth's interest, her experience in the fashion industry stays with her as she strives to personalize every event. One of her strengths lies in her ability to translate a client's vision and character into a well-crafted celebration.
